I'm originally from West Des Moines, Iowa. I've always loved experimenting with different materials and
working with my hands. I explored lots of different mediums growing up from lamp-working glass beads,
stained glass, paper making, wood burning, sewing and the fine art of pine cone wreath making. I found
one of my true passions at the age of twelve when my mom signed me up for a ceramics class at the Des
Moines Art Center. I fell in love with clay and the endless possibilities that it offered me. I took many more
ceramics classes to learn everything I could about my new obsession.
I continued to take classes during high school and could not deny myself from being creative and following
my passion. I went on to concentrate in ceramics at Iowa State University. It was there that I become an
artist.
Being able to focus heavily on ceramics during my college years and having a wonderful professor truly
encouraged my dreams. I graduated with a Bachelors in Fine Art from Iowa State University in 2003.
That summer I was accepted into the Des Moines Arts Festival as an Emerging Iowa Artist, and won Best
of Show for my Functional Pottery. It was at that point that I knew I had made the right decision about
my career path.
At the end of that summer I moved to Colorado and made Fort Collins my home. I'm currently producing
my glass jewelry and paintings in my art studio at home. While my pottery; I make at the Northern
Colorado Potters Guild and Studio.
I have taught adult and kids classes at the Parks and Rec pottery studio for the city of Fort Collins. I am
continually teaching glass fusing workshops at the potters guild. And hold the manager position at Trimble
Court Artisans, my local gallery here in Fort Collins.
I am constantly busy jumping back and forth between my fused glass jewelry, pottery, painiting, and of
course lamp-working beads, sewing and all the other crafty things I can't get enough of. I love it and
would have it no other way.
